Art & Copy

I know, I know, sorry for the third movie post in a row, but I keep forgetting to put this up and I'm pretty excited about it.

Yeah, I left my Advertising roots behind for the time being (I got my B.A. in Advertising but decided before graduating that I was more interested in design), but it still fascinates me. The psychology, the art, and the pure luck involved in the Ad world is definitely worth making a non-fiction movie about. So they finally did.

The film was directed by Doug Pray, a guy who's also made documentaries about graffiti artists, hip-hop DJs, semi truck drivers, and the Seattle grunge music scene (all of which I now really want to check out!).

Here's the trailer for Art & Copy:

And here's hoping it'll give people a more realistic idea than Mad Men.

Hey Maren, I've been looking at your work. You have a great talent and a wonderful eye for color and design. Keep at it. It will lead to good things. -- Secret Admirer

Maren, can't tell you how impressed i am with fontloose. congrats. it's great. what talent. where do you hope this will take you?
as a major fan of Mad Men i was especially interested in your comments about "Art and Copy". watched the clip. looked for it in all of the NYC area and it's nowhere already! kinda ironic don't you think? maybe now a bit more respect for the Mad Men work (not how they treated women and their own bodies) part of the 60's please. why do you think it's so popular and winning all those awards? just curious.
took your suggestion and listened to "Make Her Say" although i hate rap. not sure i'd recommend it for 14 year old Carly! i can understand the audience you're after but think of the audience you're loosing. btw, the demo lost has the money to buy the stuff "you're" selling. much to think over. love to host you next time you're in NYC. we could share a few cheap beers as you say. we could even intro you to the execs of Mad Men!

duly noted (and removed!). i was mostly testing it out for myself, but i wouldn't recommend it for any 14 year old either!

i'd love to come to new york! i've been wanting to visit again (actually, some friends are planning a trip in January, maybe i should tag along?).

hmm...i'm not sure if you'll ever read this--perhaps i should contact you another way. thanks for commenting!
